Graham Pennycook, 64, was discovered dead on 24 September in woodland close to Ludgershall after his dog arrived home without him — a post-mortem examination established that his injuries were the result of an assault. Wiltshire Police's Major Crime Investigation Team has yet to make any arrests and is asking members of the public to share dashcam footage recorded between 10:00 and 11:00 BST on the day he went missing. Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker is deploying mobile police stations over the weekend in an effort to reassure a shaken local community.
Pennycook left home at 10am dressed in a blue gilet and dark baseball cap; his wife called police at 3:41pm after his dog returned alone.
Officers believe he was approximately 45 minutes into his usual walking route when the attack occurred, in the area of the polo field at Perham Down.
The forensic cordon around the woodland is due to be scaled back this weekend — police will be present at Ludgershall Memorial Hall and a local primary school so residents can speak to them in person.
