Jason Isaacs, 63, has shared a candid Instagram video revealing he once wanted his drug-fuelled death to "hurry up and happen" and had tried to hasten it himself. The Harry Potter and White Lotus actor marked 28 years clean on Tuesday, saying he posted not to celebrate himself but to reach anyone who believes there is no escape from addiction. He credited the 12-step AA programme with saving his life, urging followers simply to "ask somewhere" for help.
Isaacs said he was "without any hope" and had "no question" he would "die of and with drugs on me or in me" before his recovery began in 1998.
The actor described surrendering control as the turning point: 'I gave up trying to control anything — I had to surrender and ask for help.'
Isaacs, who played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, thanked "everyone who took the time to love me back to life" in his Instagram caption, calling the milestone "unbelievable."
