Andrew has lost any Royal Lodge payout as Crown Estate lists 30-room mansion at £400,000 a year

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has lost any financial benefit from his Royal Lodge lease, with the Crown Estate having listed the 30-room Windsor mansion for rent to a private tenant following the expiry of his tenancy at the end of October. No member of the Royal Family expressed interest in taking over the property, leaving it to be marketed to a wealthy individual capable of meeting its estimated £400,000-a-year upkeep. Andrew paid £8 million in 2003 to secure the 75-year lease, but was forced out following further revelations about his relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. His ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who also lived there, has reportedly been eyeing a six-bedroom home with a £10,000-a-month rental price tag upon her return to Britain.

No renovations could begin until Andrew formally surrendered the lease — and doing so early would have shifted the running costs onto the Crown Estate.

The Crown Estate has reportedly been relieved Andrew did not give up the lease early, as monthly costs would otherwise have become their obligation.
