Nobel laureate María Corina Machado returns to Venezuela after months in exile to press for new elections

'I am here. With you,' María Corina Machado posted on X on Sunday, as her party shared photos of her in a church in Lara State. President Donald Trump said: 'She gave me her Nobel Prize, so how can I say anything else?' He added that he hopes she is safe. Her spokesman David Smolansky called the return a major step toward free, fair elections.
She left a month before US forces seized Nicolás Maduro in a January raid on Caracas.
Rodríguez, Maduro's former deputy, signed an oil deal with Washington after being sworn in.
Ally Edmundo González Urrutia said: 'Our leader, my dear María Corina, is on Venezuelan soil.'
