Noel Gallagher's ex-wife Meg Mathews, 60, reveals her secret breast cancer battle and calls her double mastectomy an 'easy' decision

Meg Mathews, 60, was diagnosed with HER2-negative breast cancer in November 2024 after a routine mammogram detected three pea-sized lumps under her left breast — so small they were hidden near her milk glands. Doctors recommended chemotherapy or radiotherapy, but she rejected both and opted instead for a double mastectomy in March 2025, with her lymph nodes also removed. Just eleven days after surgery, a pathologist confirmed she was cancer-free.
Mathews felt no fear at diagnosis: 'I'm strong, I'm going to get through it.'
She called the mastectomy decision easy: 'I've had five or six boob jobs since the age of 30 — they didn't feel like mine any more anyway.'
Mathews, who quit drinking in 2017 after battling alcohol and substance dependency through the 1990s Britpop era, said she never blamed her past lifestyle for the diagnosis.
