North Korea releases 'proof of life' photos of Kim Jong Un inspecting shoes after a dissident claimed he had died

North Korea's state media released photos of Kim Jong Un, 42, appearing alongside his daughter Kim Ju Ae, 13, at a Pyongyang exhibition, where the pair were pictured inspecting a small pink shoe. The images, dated Monday by KCNA, have not been independently verified. They emerged after US-based Chinese dissident Xie Wanjun claimed on X on Sunday that Kim had suffered a cerebral haemorrhage and died in Beijing, with his body then covertly moved back to North Korea and China sending 9,000 troops to Pyongyang.

Sister Kim Yo Jong warned of a 'grave situation' on the South Korean border.

She threatened further 'tactical strike means' and the resumption of loudspeaker broadcasts.

South Korea's spy agency described Kim as 'extremely obese' and said he faces an elevated risk of heart disease.
