North Wales Police have shut down their murder inquiry into the death of Ruhul Amin Nana, 34, a science teacher from Birmingham who got into difficulty in the sea at Barmouth beach on May 25 and died. A 24-year-old man from Birmingham who had been arrested on suspicion of murder was freed without charge after detectives carried out a thorough assessment of all available evidence.
Det Supt Chris Bell said the force's thoughts 'remain with his family' after the case was formally closed on Thursday.
Ruhul Amin Nana was described by Birmingham Perry Barr MP Ayoub Khan as 'an exceptional science teacher' who made a 'lasting impact on so many young people'.
A report is now being compiled and submitted to the coroner, who will determine the circumstances of Mr Nana's death.
