Liz Truss, promoting her new book 'Bank Job', told Sky News she takes "not very much" blame for the 2022 mini-budget chaos, claiming the Bank of England and pension fund structures were the real culprits. The 51-year-old insisted it was not the £45bn in unfunded tax cuts that "went wrong" but a spike in the gilt market triggered by the Bank's quantitative tightening programme.

Simon Heffer gave 'Bank Job' zero stars, calling it "the most deranged thing I've ever read."

Truss appeared baffled when asked on Sky News if she should have done her own economic research before the Budget.

She also attacked Prime Minister Andy Burnham for appearing on Gogglebox rather than discussing the economy.
