Nottingham triple killer is among 2,500 hospital-detained offenders set to lose £800-a-month benefits after a victims' families' campaign

Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden is to lay the regulations in Parliament today, vowing to end the 'gross unfairness' of offenders being paid 'twice over'. Valdo Calocane, who stabbed Barnaby Webber, Grace O'Malley-Kumar and Ian Coates to death in 2023, currently qualifies. Barnaby's mother Emma Webber called it 'a disgrace' he ever got taxpayers' money. The ban is expected early next year.

Murder is excluded because hospital orders cannot be imposed for that offence.

Universal Credit, Pension Credit, State Pension and ESA will all be cut off.

Webber said hospitalised killers were 'amassing a small fortune while they're inside'.
