Nvidia has approved a fresh $150 billion share-buyback allocation, bringing its total repurchase programme to $235 billion — the largest in corporate history. The announcement sent shares up 2.1% on Monday, pushing the chipmaker's year-to-date gains to around 24%. CEO Jensen Huang said the decision reflects confidence in a 'once-in-a-generation platform shift to AI and accelerated computing'. The programme runs until 30 January 2028.

Nvidia reported quarterly profits of $59.69 billion last month, building the cash reserves underpinning the record buyback.

Alongside the repurchase announcement, Nvidia reportedly introduced a new security platform designed to keep AI agents in check.

Questions are mounting over whether AI investment will generate returns proportionate to the trillions being poured into the sector.
