Ofcom accused of covering up data showing GB News is more trusted by viewers than the BBC

Ofcom buried figures from its main news consumption report showing that 74 per cent of GB News viewers trust the channel — beating the BBC's 66 per cent and Sky's 71 per cent. The media watchdog left the trust ratings out of its headline findings despite the data being collected as part of its own survey. GB News also outscored the BBC by 10 points on impartiality, with 63 per cent of its viewers rating it impartial against just 53 per cent for the corporation.
A GB News spokesman said the figures prove it is 'Britain's undisputed number one news channel' delivering 'bold and fearless journalism'.
The row deepens a bitter feud between GB News and Ofcom, which fined the channel £100,000 in 2024 over impartiality rules — only for the High Court to overturn a separate ruling against Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg last year.
Seventy-two per cent of GB News viewers also said the channel presents a wide range of views, higher than any other broadcaster surveyed.
