Richard Riehle, who accumulated more than 400 credits across nearly five decades, was cremated on October 23 in Los Angeles after his death certificate revealed oropharyngeal cancer as his cause of death.
Richard Riehle, 78, died at the Beverly Hills Rehabilitation Centre on October 15 from oropharyngeal cancer — a throat cancer — with a stroke listed as a significant contributing condition, according to his death certificate. Earlier reports from friends had described his death simply as natural causes. The prolific character actor was cremated on October 23 in Los Angeles.
Riehle accumulated more than 400 credits across nearly five decades, debuting opposite John Wayne in 1975.
Rob Schneider wrote of his 'Deuce Bigalow' co-star: 'There was a sweetness to Richard that showed up in every character he graced the screen with.'
Riehle had filmed scenes for several upcoming productions before his death, meaning some will be released posthumously.
