Ohio professor's child is held on $3 million bond after allegedly confessing on video to shooting the professor and his wife
Asia Nguyen-Duy, 31, of Ashland, Oregon, reportedly asked a stranger to film a video in which they confessed to killing their father and stepmother before police had even found the bodies. The suspect's mother contacted police separately to warn that her child was "currently psychotic" and needed medication. Prosecutors say identification found in a burning car near Oberlin College's music conservatory led police to the family home, where Pipo Nguyen-Duy, 64, and Tran Thi Phong, 56, were found shot dead on separate floors.
Asia Nguyen-Duy was carried into the municipal courtroom by officers, then wheeled in a chair, wearing handcuffs and ankle restraints.
The suspect told the court they are gender neutral and no longer go by the name Daniel Jones.
Neighbour Shawn Stovall said of the professor: 'I mean, to me he didn't seem like he had a mean bone in his body.'
