Ohio's largest newspaper breaks no-endorsement rule to back Amy Acton after MAGA candidate's attack ad used her estranged mother

Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign ad features Acton's estranged mother, Donna Arthur, who calls the Democrat a 'liar' and tells Ohioans to vote against her. Ramaswamy has stood by the ad, calling it 'legitimate', and President Donald Trump has thrown his support behind him. Venues are distancing themselves from the campaign, among them Old Dog Ale House & Brewery in Delaware, which cancelled his event on Friday. With under two weeks to go, polls point to a race too close to call.

The Plain Dealer accused Ramaswamy of weaponising 'the sexual abuse' Acton suffered as a child.

As Ramaswamy's bus tour moved through Strongsville on 23 October, protesters lined the route with signs.
