Oil prices fall back from a six-month high and Asian shares slip, but Middle East tensions keep traders on edge

Brent settled at $116.72 on Friday after the Houthis struck Saudi airports and oil facilities, capping a 6% weekly jump. Crude has surged nearly 90% this year because of war-related supply disruption. President Donald Trump said it was 'getting to be decision time' on whether to reach a deal with Tehran or 'finish it off'. Saudi Arabia said on Sunday it had intercepted more missiles and drones.

Seoul's Kospi dropped 1.1% and Shanghai lost 0.4% in a jittery Monday session.

Alphabet, Microsoft and Amazon all report results this week amid fears of an AI bubble.

The Houthis are threatening further attacks even as Hormuz shipments recover towards pre-war levels.
