Daniel Kennedy said 'OK boss' to a police officer on Aigburth Road, then spun his bike and tore into oncoming traffic, forcing numerous drivers to emergency brake. He then rode furiously at a family with babies in prams squeezed through a narrow railing gap, with the officer warning someone would have been seriously injured had they not scattered. Kennedy fell off his bike in the botched getaway and was detained on the spot, later pleading guilty in writing at Wirral Magistrates' Court.

Kennedy was caught cycling on the pavement while holding a phone to his ear before his chaotic flight across two carriageways.

Magistrate Peter Bingham sentenced Kennedy to a £120 fine plus £120 costs and a £48 victim surcharge — a total of £288.

Kennedy offered no mitigation whatsoever when entering his guilty plea in writing.
