Oklahoma man, 61, fires homemade flamethrower at deputies arriving to serve him an eviction notice

Darron Dunn, 61, unleashed a homemade flamethrower on sheriff's deputies who entered his barricaded Oklahoma City apartment on August 11. Bodycam footage showed a fireball travelling roughly 15 feet in the direction of one of the officers. Inside, the apartment had been set up with booby traps: a car battery wired to a mechanism near the front door, and several aerosol cans bundled together with wiring. Dunn was taken to a veterans hospital before being arrested and now faces felony charges of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and possession of an incendiary device.

Dunn fashioned his flamethrower by aiming an aerosol can at the deputies and igniting the spray with a lighter.

Before officers could safely clear the apartment, a bomb squad was called in to disable the car-battery device connected to the front door.

Despite the fireball and the rigged apartment, none of the deputies or other personnel were injured.
