Oklahoma man is set to appear in court after being charged with mailing hundreds of letters containing white powder to US officials ahead of the midterm elections

Robin Martin, an Oklahoma City man described by prosecutors as an election denier, has been charged with sending hoax materials and threatening communications through the mail after allegedly dispatching hundreds of letters containing white powder to public officials in the run-up to the 2024 and 2026 elections. The FBI arrested him early Monday, and he is set to make his first court appearance Tuesday afternoon in Oklahoma City.

Testing identified the white powder as yeast or flour, though the FBI noted in its court filing that not every letter had been fully examined.

The letters reached more than 100 locations nationwide, including secretary of state offices, congressional offices and election offices.

Last month, authorities told recipients to regard the mailings as 'potentially hazardous' while law enforcement worked urgently to intercept further deliveries.
