Omar's staff pushed to change her birth year in official records as Pirro opens financial probe into $30m disclosure
Ilhan Omar and Sahra Noor. Federal investigators have subpoenaed Sahra Noor as part of a criminal fraud probe into Omar's immigration paperwork.
Grand jury subpoenas have been served on Omar's sister Sahra Noor and at least one other family member as federal investigators look into whether the congresswoman's late father falsified her date of birth on immigration documents. The citizenship pathway Omar says she used — derived from her father's naturalisation in 2000 — was restricted to children under 18, which makes the dispute over whether she was born in 1981 or 1982 legally significant. DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro has confirmed that her office is simultaneously investigating Omar's House financial disclosures, which reportedly place her net worth at up to $30 million.
Omar's aides lobbied the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library, Wikipedia and the Congressional Biographical Directory in May 2019 to shift her listed birth year from 1981 to 1982.
Vance said the administration will not 'butt in' but warned that 'if justice requires something else be done, we'll take a step when we have to.'
Omar turned the raid into a fundraising pitch within hours, calling the probe 'ludicrous' and asking supporters to 'chip in $10' to 'fight back against this fascist government.'
