Prince William has urged the public to check in on loved ones struggling with their mental health, warning that around 20 people die by suicide every day in the UK. The Prince of Wales posted the message on X on World Mental Health Day, signing off simply as "W", alongside a video of imagined voicemails from people reaching out to friends.
William and Princess Catherine attended Everton's ground in Liverpool to launch 'On Your Side', a practical suicide prevention toolkit for sporting environments.
The Royal Foundation's National Suicide Prevention Network, launched one year ago today, has already supported more than 500 people and delivered over 3,000 interventions across the UK.
William said 'a simple conversation is where hope begins', challenging the myth that talking about suicide encourages it.
