One Nation wins its first Western Australia seat as Labor's primary vote crashes from 46 per cent to 24 per cent

Luke Herdegen has defeated Labor's Georgia Tree in the Secret Harbour by-election, delivering One Nation its first ever seat in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly. Pauline Hanson declared the result proves there are 'no safe Labor seats' anywhere in the country, with the Liberals relegated to a distant third on 17 per cent.

Secret Harbour was held by a former minister with an 11.5 per cent margin just last year, regarded as safe Labor territory.

The result follows One Nation's David Farley winning the federal seat of Farrer, the first One Nation MP elected to the House of Representatives in the party's history.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese spent the final week of the campaign in WA but reportedly avoided appearing alongside the Labor candidate, who was dogged by claims she lived outside the electorate.
