One person is killed and eight are wounded in a shooting outside Alabama's Magic City Classic college football game
Birmingham Police Chief Michael Pickett said the shooting erupted on Graymont Avenue West after most families had already left Legion Field, and he believes two separate parties were involved. Police recovered several firearms and took one person in for questioning, though no arrests have been made.
One victim was in critical condition early Sunday; seven others were reported as stable.
The Magic City Classic, contested between Alabama A&M and Alabama State, drew nearly 70,000 fans — A&M won 31-28.
'Two senseless acts of violence,' Pickett said, adding he was grateful more spectators were not caught in the crossfire.
