One person is killed and several are wounded in a shooting outside Alabama's Magic City Classic college football game

Shots rang out at approximately 7:50 p.m. near Legion Field in Birmingham, leaving one person dead and at least two others critically injured following the 85th annual Magic City Classic between Alabama A&M University and Alabama State University. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office confirmed the fatality. Authorities called on the public to keep clear of the area and asked anyone with video footage to come forward, guaranteeing anonymity to those who do.

The Magic City Classic is the largest HBCU football game in the US, drawing crowds for one of the country's most celebrated Black college traditions.

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin condemned 'senseless violence during a night of celebration', vowing 'justice will be served'.

Police suspended all tailgating, cleared the stadium and say the scene remains active with officers and detectives investigating.
