Open-top tour bus smashes into a souvenir stand and a 4x4 near Trafalgar Square, closing roads for nearly five hours
Golden Tours' hop-on, hop-off double-decker knocked over a lamppost before ploughing into the stall on Spring Gardens at about 12.30pm, a worker at The Admiralty pub said. The impact shoved the stand into a black 4x4, scattering key rings and London tote bags across the road. No injuries were reported, and the London Ambulance Service did not attend. Golden Tours is investigating.
Two fire engines and a rescue unit raced from Euston, Paddington and Chelsea.
Traffic queued from Whitehall to Haymarket, and seven bus routes were diverted.
Golden Tours insists crashes like this are 'extremely rare'.
