OpenAI claims its AI has solved hundreds of unsolved maths problems but mathematicians say the work has NOT been properly checked

Sam Altman published proofs for hundreds of previously unsolved mathematical problems on Wednesday via a public GitHub repository, declaring AI is ushering in a "new era of discovery." The findings came from an unreleased internal model that spent an average of three hours on each problem. Mathematicians have hit back, warning the results are unlikely to have been properly verified and will create unnecessary work for experts.
