Oregon dad who shot dead a school gunman that killed three children and a teacher army-crawled through a window, mother says
Carpenter Kaylub Giamanco, 36, was driving home on his lunch break when he saw Griffin John II, 16, entering Silver Rail Elementary in Bend, where his two daughters study. He pulled onto the grass, grabbed his gun and followed him in. John had already killed Rhoam Summer, 5, two pupils aged 8 and 11, and teacher Meghan Lambert, 25. Giamanco then rang mother Kenda Freeman: 'Mom, I just shot and killed somebody.'
His mother says he now lies awake wondering what he could have done differently.
Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek said he 'heroically intervened to stop further loss of life'.
Gun-rights campaigners say 'an armed bystander with good aim' stopped the killer in a gun-free zone.
