Oregon gunman, 16, used a shotgun bought by his mother to attack a special needs classroom at his old school

Griffin J. John II killed three children and teacher Megan Lambert, 25, at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend on Thursday. Police chief Mike Krantz said he fired up to 15 rounds from a Maverick 88 pump-action shotgun, and 44 more rounds were found at the scene. In 2020 his mother, Shauntai Nickerson, told a local TV station her son had special needs. No motive has been given.

He threw the shotgun over a fence, then fired at a passing pickup.

A teacher tackled him before an armed father of two pupils shot him dead.

Five-year-old Rhoam Summer was among the dead, killed on school picture day.
