Police hunt a man and a woman who fled after an officer was shot in Nottingham city centre

At 04:50 on Sunday, the officer made contact with two suspects on Angel Row, moments before shots were fired. He is now in hospital receiving treatment for a foot wound. Detectives found a firearm at the scene, but both individuals fled and have not yet been located. Angel Row remains closed and a large police cordon is still in place across the surrounding area.

Assistant Chief Constable Claire Rukas called it 'a shocking incident'.

She said it was 'a sobering reminder' of the dangers officers face on duty.

Nottinghamshire Police said 'even the smallest bit of information' could crack the case.
