Teenage gunman who killed three children and a teacher at an Oregon school used a shotgun bought by his mother
Griffin J. John II, 16, was a former special-needs pupil at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend, and he opened fire on a special-needs classroom there on Thursday. In 2020 his mother, Shauntai Nickerson, told a local TV station her son needed 'skilled teachers' after struggling to learn at home. He fired up to 15 rounds from a Maverick 88 pump-action shotgun. Police found 44 more rounds at the scene.
He threw the shotgun over a fence, shot at a passing truck, then blasted through locked doors.
A teacher threw her phone and tackled him before an armed father, 36, shot him dead.
Five-year-old Rhoam Summer and teacher Megan Lambert, 25, are among the dead.
