Oregon teacher says she played dead after her hand was almost severed by a school gunman who killed four
Becky Drury, 54, was shot at close range while trying to shut the door of the special-education classroom at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend. She said she wants to correct reports that she shielded a pupil: 'I was shot before I had any chance to act.' The 16-year-old gunman, Griffin J John II, killed teacher Megan Lambert and three children, one of whom was five-year-old Rhoam Summer. A parent then shot him dead.
His mother, Shauntai Nickerson, reportedly bought him the shotgun as a birthday present.
Investigators are examining a possible Nazi obsession and links to the '764' extremist network.
Before a parent shot him, another teacher hurled her phone at the gunman and brought him to the ground.
