Oregon teacher says she played dead with her hand almost severed as a gunman killed four at her school

Becky Drury, 54, says she was shot at close range while trying to shut her classroom door at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend. 'I could not get up, defend myself, or protect anyone else,' she said. Drury, still in hospital, wants to correct reports about her actions, insisting she was hit before she could act. Teacher Megan Lambert, 25, and three children, including Rhoam Summer, five, died.

Gunman Griffin J John II, 16, a former pupil, was shot dead by a parent.

His mother, Shauntai Nickerson, reportedly bought the shotgun legally as a birthday present.

Investigators are probing a possible Nazism obsession and links to the '764' extremist group.
