Oregon teacher who was shot by the school gunman says she played dead with her left hand almost severed
Becky Drury, 54, has hit back at 'contradictory reporting' about her actions, insisting she was shot 'before I had any chance to act'. She was running from her classroom at Silver Rail Elementary when the gunman reached her door. The October 15 attack killed three children, aged five, eight and 11, and a 25-year-old teacher. Drury said: 'I could not get up, defend myself, or protect anyone else.'
Police named the suspect as Griffin J. John II, 16, a former pupil at the school.
He shot through locked doors before opening fire inside a special needs classroom.
Another teacher tackled him before armed bystander Kaylub Giamanco, 36, shot him dead.
