Oregon teacher who was shot in a school massacre says she played dead so the gunman would not shoot her again

Becky Drury, 54, was shot as she tried to close her special-education classroom door at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend on 15 October. Lying on the floor, she saw her left hand had been almost completely severed. 'I could not get up, defend myself, or protect anyone else,' she said. The gunman killed three pupils, including five-year-old Rhoam Summer, and teacher Megan Lambert, 25.

Drury said she spoke out to correct 'contradictory reporting' about her actions that day.

Gunman Griffin J John II, 16, was shot dead by a father who followed him inside.
