Oregon school gunman, 16, who killed three children and a teacher used a shotgun bought by his mother

Police have named the attacker as Griffin J. John II, a former special-needs pupil at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend who opened fire inside its special-needs classroom. His mother, Shauntai Nickerson, told a local TV station in 2020 that her son needed help from skilled teachers. Chief Mike Krantz said he fired up to 15 rounds and carried 44 more. No motive has been given.

He threw a pump-action Maverick 88 shotgun over the school fence, then climbed after it.

A teacher threw her phone at him before an armed father shot him dead.

The dead include Rhoam Summer, five, and teacher Megan Lambert, 25, killed on picture day.
