Madeleine Rachel Trask, a parachute packer who had worked at Skydive Langar for three-and-a-half years, died at Langar Airfield in Nottinghamshire on July 5, a post-mortem finding a provisional cause of death of head injury. Assistant coroner Karen Boyle opened the inquest at Nottingham Council House on Thursday before adjourning it to a date yet to be fixed, offering her condolences to Ms Trask's family and friends.

Ms Trask, a former president of the University of Nottingham Skydiving club, was discovered in a field near the airfield, where she was declared dead.

Police were called at 12.13pm and Ms Trask was formally identified to an officer at 1.54pm; the circumstances of her death remain under investigation.

Skydive Langar, the UK's busiest civilian skydiving centre with more than 50,000 jumps a year, said at the time the fatal incident involved 'an experienced skydiver'.
