Parents could face five years' jail for trying to talk children out of transitioning under Labour's conversion ban, report warns

Policy Exchange's report, co-authored by barrister Akua Reindorf KC and former equalities watchdog Baroness Kishwer Falkner, brands Labour's draft Conversion Practices Bill "ideological, authoritarian and unworkable." Equalities minister Olivia Bailey published the bill on Thursday, but critics warn it creates no threshold for abusiveness and no defence of reasonableness, leaving parents exposed for ordinary conversations.
Kemi Badenoch called the bill a 'waste of time' and warned 'parents start getting arrested for parenting their children.'
The Policy Exchange report warns parents could be prosecuted for refusing to fund gender surgery or failing to use a child's preferred pronouns.
Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies endorsed the report, calling criminalising parent-child conversations 'an unconscionable intrusion into family life.'
