Parents of five-year-old who was killed in Oregon school shooting hire three law firms to probe whether massacre was preventable
Attorneys representing the parents of Rhoam Summer — Kelik and Lillian Summer — say their son holds the grim distinction of being the youngest child to die in a US school shooting. The kindergartner had planned to wear a bunny costume for Halloween. On Thursday, 16-year-old Griffin J. John II opened fire at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend, killing Rhoam, two other students and teacher Megan Lambert, 25. Reports indicate the shotgun he used had been given to him by his mother as a birthday present.
Kaylub Giamanco, 36, the father of two pupils at the school, pursued the gunman inside and shot him dead.
Of the nine people in the special needs classroom, three emerged without physical injury.
Court records reveal that the gunman's mother was beaten by his father before the boy's birth.
