Paris Jackson asks a California court to make her father's estate release $600m to an unfunded family trust
Paris Jackson, whose petition cites leaked emails showing bitter disputes between Jackson's inner circle and estate executors dating back to 2011.
Paris Jackson, 28, has filed a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court accusing executor John Branca of maintaining an 'iron grip' over the siblings and deciding unilaterally what money they receive, despite the estate generating billions since Michael Jackson's 2009 death. The family trust was supposed to begin distributing income when each child turned 21, with lump-sum instalments at 30, 35 and 40 — but it has remained wholly unfunded for 17 years.
Brother Prince turns 30 in four months, making the timing of Paris's legal push urgent.
The estate's position is that unresolved matters, among them a continuing IRS dispute, need to be settled before the trusts can receive their full funding.
The petition notes business deals including the $287.5 million sale of EMI Music Publishing and Neverland Ranch's $22 million sale have generated substantial cash for the estate.
