Pat Finucane's son demands Sir David Davis apologise over 'IRA lawyers' remark, recalling watching his father being shot dead

Sir David Davis told MPs during Tuesday's Commons debate on the Troubles bill that 'IRA lawyers' were 'more interested in drama than justice', quoting a British soldier. John Finucane, Sinn Féin MP for North Belfast, branded the words 'contemptible' in an open letter. He asked whether Davis would dare speak about English solicitors that way. The Law Society of Northern Ireland voiced 'deep concern'.

Minister Douglas Hogg attacked Northern Ireland solicitors in 1989, three weeks before Pat Finucane's murder.

First Minister Michelle O'Neill called Davis's comments 'shameful and reprehensible'.

Finucane also wants an apology for the family of Rosemary Nelson, killed by loyalists in 1999.
