Paul Gascoigne's daughter-in-law, 28, abandons US brain tumour trial after falling short of £320k target

Jaimee Sharp, who has an incurable brain tumour, raised £254,519 toward a two-year treatment programme at an Ohio clinic but could not reach the £320,000 required in time. She and Paul Gascoigne's son Mason have a five-year-old son, Teddy, and Sharp said the funding gap made committing to the American programme financially unworkable.

Sharp posted a GoFundMe update thanking donors, calling their support 'completely overwhelming' during 'the hardest time of my life'.

Surgeons have already carried out major brain surgery on Sharp, removing as much of the tumour as possible ahead of her continuing chemotherapy.

Sharp says she now intends to pursue a different treatment option alongside her chemotherapy using the money already raised.
