A man in his 50s died on the M2 in Kent after being struck by multiple vehicles on the coastbound carriageway near Medway Services at around 9.10pm on Tuesday. Kent Police have notified his next of kin and are asking any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage to come forward.

The motorway was closed in both directions — between junctions three and five coastbound and junctions five and four London-bound — causing queues stretching back three miles.

Diversions via the M20 sent knock-on delays onto the A249 and A229 toward Maidstone, with one driver describing conditions as 'mayhem'.

Reopening of the coastbound carriageway was not anticipated before 3.45pm to 4pm, with accident investigation work still ongoing.
