Pensioner, 68, will stand trial in 2028 accused of murdering mother-of-one in an Irvine park in 1994

Fraser Kilpatrick also faces 15 further charges, including the alleged rapes of a woman and a young girl committed decades ago. Prosecutors allege Shona Stevens, 31, died three days after being beaten in Bourtreehill Park with a hammer or similar weapon. Donald Findlay KC entered not guilty pleas to every charge on Tuesday. The trial is set for 31 January 2028 in Glasgow.

Shona Stevens' daughter Candice was just seven when her mother died.

Other charges allege boiling water was poured on a child in the 1990s.

Kilpatrick was charged in July 2025, a year after a £20,000 Crimestoppers reward appeal.
