Jake and Logan Paul made an appearance at the Pentagon on September 17 to speak to US military service members. The Department of Defense released a cinematic, music-backed video of the visit that drew fierce backlash on social media. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth was photographed laughing and posing with the YouTuber brothers, who took to the press briefing room podium just ahead of National POW/MIA Recognition Day.

Former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger, who voted to impeach Trump, declared: 'We aren't a serious country at the moment.'

The Pentagon's glossy video — depicting the brothers in slow motion as they walked its corridors — drew comparisons to an 'SNL skit' from social media users and has racked up more than 47 million views.

Journalist Billy Binion wrote it 'should insult every taxpayer' that Pentagon leadership seem 'more interested in soaking up culture war battles while we're involved in an actual war abroad.'
