Pentagon orders only 'impeccably groomed' troops to attend Hegseth speech as insiders accuse wife of meddling

Whistleblowers have issued what they call an 'urgent SOS' over Pete Hegseth turning the Defense Department into a personal fiefdom, as Pentagon insiders also turn on his wife Jennifer for interfering in military affairs. An email sent to Army commanders on Tuesday asks them to nominate soldiers to appear alongside Hegseth at his 'State of the Force' address on September 30 — but only those who pass strict fitness tests and meet 'impeccable grooming and uniform standards (no exception)'.

Preferred candidates must pass the Army's waist-to-height ratio test, demonstrate 'sound judgment under pressure' and serve as 'role models for their peers'.

Insiders are calling Jennifer Hegseth the Pentagon's self-styled 'first lady', accusing her of meddling in the running of the US military's top department.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell defended the standards, saying Hegseth 'maintains the highest expectations for our service members to uphold professional standards of appearance, fitness, and discipline'.
