PepsiCo is to raise prices on Doritos, Ruffles and sodas after tariff refund runs out and North America sales disappoint

From the Newshound archive · first published 8 October 2026.

PepsiCo has slashed its annual profit forecast and is deepening cost cuts after a weak third quarter in North America. The company used a $178 million government tariff refund to hold prices steady this quarter, but that funding will not be there going forward. Single-digit price rises are planned for Doritos, Ruffles, SunChips and some drinks — though PepsiCo insists prices will remain below where they started this year. The hikes risk a repeat consumer revolt after shoppers pushed back against double-digit increases during 2022 and 2023.
