An online petition demanding Meghan Markle be dropped from the 2027 season of Junior MasterChef Australia has intensified a backlash that erupted when Network 10 announced she would co-host alongside chef Poh Ling Yeow. Melbourne locals questioned why producers had overlooked accomplished Australian talent in favour of an American lifestyle personality who holds no professional cooking credentials. Meghan said accepting the role was "an easy yes," pointing to her April 2026 guest appearance, which drew the show's best Sunday audience numbers in three years.

Poh Ling Yeow, visibly stunned outside the MasterChef kitchen, admitted she is 'still processing' the news but is 'very, very excited to be working with Meghan.'

Critics branded the decision 'a joke,' demanding native talent front a competition built around nurturing young Australian cooks.

Meghan and Harry moved back to the UK from California in August 2026; their only joint public outing since was a visit to Nottingham charities on 15 October.
