Phase Eight, Hobbs and Whistles hit by cyber attack in second hack on UK fashion in a week
TFG London discovered the cyber attack on Sunday 11 October, with online orders suspended as a precaution, though Hobbs stores have remained open throughout.
The Foschini Group (TFG), the South African retail giant behind Phase Eight, Hobbs and Whistles, has apologised to customers after a cyber attack on its UK arm, TFG London, knocked out IT systems across all three brands. The group says there is 'no reason to believe that payment information is at risk' but warns that orders placed after Sunday 11 October may face delays. Relevant UK authorities have been notified, and external cyber security specialists are now investigating.
The attack is the second to strike UK fashion in a week, following an Asos breach that exposed customers' names and contact details via the Snowflake data storage platform.
H&M is also investigating claims it was targeted last week by a criminal group called Shinyhunters, making three major retail cyber incidents in rapid succession.
TFG's other brands — Inside Story, White Stuff, TFG Africa and TFG Australia — are unaffected, and physical stores remain open as normal.
