Philippine Air Force grounds its entire SF-260 fleet after two training planes collide mid-air, killing all four pilots
Seven of the jets were filmed flying in arrow formation; two then peeled away from the group and struck each other. The collision happened at 3.51pm on Friday at Fernando Air Base in Lipa City, Batangas province, south of Manila. A witness reported that one of the two-seater aircraft came down near military personnel barracks. Air force spokesman Colonel Alvin Jay Capinguian confirmed that an investigation has been launched.
In May, two pilots died when another SF-260 crashed in Benguet province.
A 2023 SF-260 training crash also killed two pilots.
The trainers came from Italy and flew strikes on Marawi City in 2017.
