Pierce Brosnan backs his former screen son Callum Turner as the next James Bond ahead of an imminent casting announcement
Jack Lowden, the bookies' favourite to succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond, told British GQ that co-star Gary Oldman had declared in September that Amazon MGM had already chosen their 007.
The two men worked together playing father and son in the 2017 drama 'The Only Living Boy in New York', and Brosnan told Vanity Fair that Turner — one of three frontrunners — has the strength, physique and screen presence the role demands. George Clooney, who directed Turner in 'The Boys in the Boat', has also publicly declared him his pick, calling him "tall, handsome, charming and British." An official announcement from Amazon MGM Studios is expected before the end of the year.
Jack Lowden, the bookies' favourite, told British GQ the speculation was "all very flattering" but he refused to "add to the noise."
Josh O'Connor called being linked to Bond "an incredibly bizarre pinch me moment" while opening a new Everyman Theatre in his hometown of Cheltenham.
Kristin Scott Thomas, Lowden's 'Slow Horses' co-star, says he has "that twinkle" and is "a very, very good actor" — with Gary Oldman having previously said his "fingers are crossed" for Lowden.
