Piers Morgan donates £1,000 to fly newlywed Peter Melhuish by helicopter from Welsh wedding to Lord's final

Peter Melhuish, captain of Blackheath Cricket Club in Guildford, faces the ultimate scheduling clash: his wedding to Izzy Upton in North Wales falls the day before his team's Cawston Press Village Cup final at Lord's on 6 September. Blackheath launched a fundraiser to fly him by helicopter from the ceremony to the ground, and have smashed their £4,500 target, raising over £6,000. Piers Morgan's £1,000 donation helped push them over the line.
Melhuish, 32, has played for Blackheath since the age of six, making the Lord's final a lifelong ambition he nearly had to choose between and his own wedding.
The only alternative was a 5am taxi dash; the helicopter cuts the journey to around 90 minutes, landing him at Lord's by 10am for a 10:30am start.
His club said 'vanishingly few are UN-lucky enough to have both dreams happen within 24 hours of each other.'
